Here at Wetsuit Express we really are passionate about surfing and, whenever we find time, we love nothing better than to put on our Billabong wetsuits and hit the waves with our boards. However, we’ve never given much thought as to whether we would like to be on our surfboards when the end of the world occurs.
Yet a filmmaker in Los Angeles has not only considered the idea of surfers choosing to spend their last hours on the water, but he has also created a video showing how such an event could look.
The filmmaker has used footage from a GoPro camera shot on Sunset Beach, California and added visual effects to show spaceships attack Earth in a YouTube video titled “Apocalypse Later, Surf Now”.
Many surfers sport their women’s and mens wetsuits to paddle out into the sea, straddle their boards while watching the scene unfold and surf on the waves created by explosions.
The two minute video has proved to be wildly popular since it was uploaded on January 8, gathering more than 317,000 views.
We’re not quite ready to consider whether we’d be reaching for our Billabong wetsuits come the apocalypse, but we love this video and are waiting with baited breath to see if this filmmaker returns with a follow up.
