Record for most water skiers pulled by one boat, broken in Tasmania

Water skiers break world record in Australia

Off the coast of Tasmania recently a record was broken, and it involved a great many women and men’s wetsuit wearers.

The record attempt was for the greatest number of water skiers being pulled by one boat for a nautical mile, which is a little longer than a normal ‘land’ mile.

The previous record had been made with 114 people and the 2012 attempt began with more than 150 skiers. Nine of the participants fell into the water during the mass tow, and the group managed to beat the previous record with 145 water skiers staying upright for the length of the course.

It must have been an impressive sight, and we imagine that everyone involved had a great time, whether or not they made it the full nautical mile.

One of the group members was only 12 years old and undertook the challenge in a children’s wetsuit, and we think she’ll be hard pushed to better such an experience when she gets older.

If another attempt to break the record is made we hope we hear about it in time to grab our women and men’s wetsuits so that we can take part!
