Local artists in Santa Cruz, California, make good use of wetsuits

mens wetsuit, discount wetsuit

Would you hand your women or mens wetsuit to be cut up and made into art?

Maybe if it was a well-used discount wetsuit we’d be happy to oblige, but many surfers in Santa Cruz, California, have passed their wetsuits to artists for Wet Art 2012 without any fuss.

The collaboration between more than 35 surfers and a number of local artists has led to a whole range of art pieces being created, and they will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz on the 18 February.

Some of the work is already on display, but there are even more items which have yet to become viewable by the general public.

Despite our reservations about having our wetsuits cut up or painted, we do like seeing old women and men’s wetsuits being reused.

Come to think of it, we’ve got a few used-up wetsuits lying about the Wetsuit Express offices and a distinct lack of cushions and desk mascots…
