Bridal gown womens wetsuits designed by fashion student

Usually womens wetsuits come in long or short-sleeved and perhaps in a choice of different colours. However, one fashion designer has seen to it that some very different types of wetsuits for women may one day be on the market.

Celia Fraser, from Fullarton, near Adelaide in South Australia, has created six bridal gowns which have been fabricated from wetsuit and swimwear material.

The collection was designed for the final year of her Fashion Design and Technology course, run by Training and Further Education South Australia.

The 24-year-old explained, “I’ve designed a bridal party where the bride, groom and two bridesmaids are in wetsuit fabric and the two flower girls will be wearing kid’s swimwear.

“I wanted something that would stand out from everyone else – something that was different and quirky.”

She states that one of her favourite designers is Zimmerman, who creates swimwear as well as other types of clothing.

“I really love beachwear and people that do things a bit differently,” she added.

With the huge difference in weather between the two countries, a woman wearing a wetsuit for a beach wedding in the UK may be a more practical prospect compared with an Australian marriage ceremony.

The fashion student hopes to one day have her own fashion label. If her dream becomes a reality, she may choose to continue working with wetsuit material and this could lead to an interesting collection of womens wetsuits for water-sports enthusiasts to buy.
